LIFT CAA Victim Advocacy Services recently held the first Annual Shine the Light on the Darkness of Domestic Violence Events in Choctaw and Pushmataha Counties. October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month as such, the LIFT CAA programs worked diligently to raise awareness. In an effort to create a larger impact, the Shine the Light on the Darkness of Domestic Violence Event was created.
This will be an annual event for LIFT CAA and will serve as a public reminder to take a stand against domestic violence. Events were held October 29th and 30th in Choctaw and Pushmataha Counties. Community members present participated in activities such as Shine the Lights, poem reading, refreshments, guest speaker and lantern release.
